What is the Bicast Leather?
Bicast leather is split leather, the part of the hide left after the top-grain layer is removed, that is laminated with a polyethylene or polyurethane coating and embossed with grain patterns for a natural look. It is much less expensive that top-grain leather but not as durable.
Bicast leather is frequently used on the parts of furniture as upholstery leather and in the footwear industry. Because it is coated with polyurethane on the top, it also called PU leather. Such leather does not develop a leather-like suppleness with age, and it is more prone to cracking and splitting than regular leather, but it is extremely easy to clean.
